What Does Subdividing a Cross Lease Mean?<\/h2>\n

Subdividing a cross lease refers to a shared ownership arrangement where multiple parties lease dwellings to each other on the same piece of land. While this type of subdivision was highly popular in the 1980s and 1990s, it is less common today. However, many cross-leased properties still exist, and one of our most frequent services is updating cross lease agreements. These updates are necessary when additions or alterations to a dwelling change the building\u2019s footprint on the title. <\/p>\n

Updating a cross lease involves a field visit to measure the updated shape of the building, securing council approval, and submitting the updated plan to LINZ. Once the plan is approved, your solicitor can apply for the new cross lease title.<\/p>\n
